What encouraged you to join the cast of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’?
I was very touched by Sooraj Bharjatya’s brilliant narration. Moreover, I liked my role a lot and felt that it was a very strong a performance-oriented one. And then of course, the very idea of working with Salman Khan was extremely exciting. In a way, I grew up watching his films. As such, working in the film was like a dream come true.
How is Salman Khan as a co-star?
Salman is a brilliant co-star. He is a very jovial and energetic individual. Moreover, he is a very generous person and keeps everyone happy. If you ever have lunch with him, then the lunch will be nothing short of a darbar. On the professional front, the one quality I want to learn from him is his ability to improvise and that to on a regular basis.
What is the reason behind the success attained by films made under the Rajshri banner?
Rajshri truly is an iconic banner. It not only makes films but also brings to life the dreams of the audience. This is something I realized while shooting for the title track of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ on some truly grand sets. Moreover, the banner’s films always have a strong emotional appeal. And then lastly the characters are extremely relatable.
‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ celebrates the importance of one’s family. Please tell us about your rapport with your family.
I come from a middle class family. I am grateful to them for being extremely supportive at all times. They helped me get proper education and imbibed good values in me. These values have helped me reach where I am at present.
Whenever I am away from my family, I miss them a lot especially during dinner. Moreover, I also share a lovely bond with my extended family.
Now let us talk about Swara the person. How did acting happen?
Becoming an actress had always been a secret dream. After completing my Masters, I realized that it was a ‘now or never’ situation and decided to venture into acting,
Which is that one legendary role you would love to essay on the big screen?
It is quite difficult to pin point one role. There are quite a few characters I would love to do. Nargis in ‘Mother India’ and Madhubala in ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ are two characters I absolutely adore. Then I also wish I could do something like Amitabh Bachchan’s character in ‘Paa’.
What has been the biggest challenge before you till now?
I am a pretty laid back person. Moreover, I am very particular about the type of clothes I wear. As such, getting rid of this attitude and learning to look good at all times was a big challenge for me. `Another important thing is that I don’t have a godfather. Hence, things have been a bit slow. However, at the same time, I was lucky to enter the industry at a time when lots of new roles were being written.
If given an opportunity, which social problem would you like to eliminate?
I would like to eradicate the lack of accountability in our system. If that is solved a lot of other issues may be taken care of.
