New Delhi: Apart form racism, women's right was the other theme that ruled the Oscar ceremony this time. Much before the red carpet, Best actress nominee Reese Witherspoon took to instagram and posted a picture saying '#Askhermore' (ask her more).

Through her picture she requested the reporters to ask the actresses more than just who they were wearing. She said that the artists who create these beautiful dresses were important but the actresses have a great body of work too for which they have been nominated in the first place. She said that the journalists should ask about their experiences also and not just limit the questions to the dresses and gowns when it comes to the ladies on the red carpets. Reese Witherspoon also pointed out that there were 44 women nominated for their work. She requested the reporters to focus on their work rather than their dress.

Later, upon winning her award for best supporting actress for 'Boyhood' Patricia Arquette pulled attention to women's right in America through her speech. After thanking her family, the cast and crew of the film she said " ....to every women who gave birth and to every tax payer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else's equal rights. It's our time to have wage equality for once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America."

Her speech about women empowerment received a great reaction form the audiences and especially three time Oscar winner Meryl Streep, who hooted in support of her co-nominee. Jennifer Lopez, whose Oscar dress made headlines, was also seen hooting and applauding the thought provoked by Arquette's speech.
