Bollywood has produced some of the biggest hits in the 1990s. These films not only impressed the masses, but also gave superstar status to many actors. They have become huge names in the industry now. One such film was Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The film was directed by Sooraj Barjatya and it starred Salman Khan and Bhagyashree in the lead roles. The film made Salman Khan an overnight star in the industry. Did you know that Salman was not the first choice to play the lead role in the project? As per reports, the film was first offered to a young actor from the industry, who couldn’t be a part of it due to health issues.
Maine Pyar Kiya is among the most successful films of Salman Khan’s career. The film marked the arrival of Salman as a romantic star and performed exceptionally well at the box office. But he was not the first choice for the film. As per reports, the film was first offered to a young actor named Faraaz Khan. Rajshri Productions had cast him as the hero of the project, but the actor fell sick after being signed on for the film and had to be replaced. Salman Khan was cast as the new lead, and, the rest as they say, is history. Faraaz was the son of Bollywood actor Yusuf Khan, who had worked with superstars like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in the 1970s and 1980s.
Even though Faraaz missed out on Maine Pyar Kiya, the actor was seen starring in films like Fareb and Mehendi alongside Rani Mukerji. After that, he didn’t do many films in his career. Sadly, the actor passed away in 2020 due to ill health. In fact, when the news about Faraaz’s illness reached Salman, he extended monetary help to him. Faraaz’s brother said that they will forever be grateful to Salman for his help.
Salman Khan was last seen in the superhit film Tiger 3 alongside Katrina Kaif. Recently, there have been a lot of rumours about his upcoming projects like The Bull, Kick 2, Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, and Dabangg 4. There has been no official confirmation regarding these films.
