Nizhalgal Ravi, one of the most well-known supporting artists in Tamil cinema, had appeared in one Malayalam film back in 1982. The film was titled Kakka and since then the actor has been known to Malayalam audiences as Kakka Ravi. Although his character in the film was loved, Nizhalgal did not appear in any Malayalam film after that.
However, Malayalam cinema’s beloved Kakka Ravi is making a comeback to the industry with the Dinjith Ayyathan-directed Kishkindha Kaandam. His character poster was recently made public and the actor is playing a character named Amrit Lal In the film.
The story, screenplay, and dialogue of Kishkindha Kaandam are penned by Bahul Ramesh, with Joby George producing the film under the Goodwill Entertainments banner. The cast includes Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Vijayaraghavan, Jagadish, Ashokan, Nishan, Vyshnavi Raj, Major Ravi, Nizhalkal Ravi, Shebin Benson, Kottayam Ramesh, Bilas Chandrahasan, Master Aarav, Gibin Gopinath, and others. Set in the forest reserve of Kallepathi, the film is anticipated to be a thriller, with Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali portraying a couple and Vijayaraghavan taking on the role of a forest officer.
The teaser refers to the imposition of Section 144 in the area following a public threat and strong Naxal movements ranging back to the 1970s. The film will be released on September 12. The name of the film is taken from one of the chapters of the great Indian epic, The Ramayana.
Nizhalgal Ravi began his artistic journey in 1980, making his debut with the film Nizhalgal. In a recent interview, he revealed that the filming of Nizhalgal took place at Kamal Haasan’s house, specifically in his room. He shared, “Kamal sir allowed us to use the room for shooting. It was next to a room without a bed and was quite simple.” Kamal Haasan’s room was equipped with all the necessary shooting gear, including lights.
