Malayalam Actor TP Madhavan Dies Aged 88, Mohanlal Says 'He Had A Father's Love For Me'
TP Madhavan, who played several memorable roles in Malayalam movies, passed away on October 9.

Malayalam veteran actor TP Madhavan passed away on Wednesday at the age of 88. Mohanlal reminisced about his co-actor in the super hits Nadodikkattu, Vietnam Colony and many more.

Sharing a picture of TP Madhavan on his Facebook page, Mohanlal wrote that TP Madhavan captured everyone’s love with his heartwarming smile.

Mohanlal wrote, “TP Madhavan, who shone as a character actor in more than 600 films for over four decades, has passed away. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work with him in several films from different eras. Uyarangalil, Sarvakalashala, Moonnam Mura, Ulladakkam, Pingami, Agnidevan, Narasimham, Ayal Kadhayezhuthukayanu, Nadodikattu, Vietnam Colony, Natturajavu, Twenty:20 and many more."

Mohanlal further said that TP Madhavan had a special love for him. The Ram actor’s note further read, “He had a father’s love and affection for me. It is with deep sadness that I bid farewell to Madhavanettan, who was also the first general secretary of the actors’ association and who won the hearts of all with his warm smile."

TP Madhavan, who played several memorable roles in Malayalam films, passed away on October 9. He was on a ventilator due to stomach ailments. The veteran actor’s last rites will take place on October 10 at Santhi Kavadam. Before turning to acting, TP Madhavan ran several advertising agencies in Mumbai and Kolkata and was awarded the prestigious Prem Nazir Award and Ramu Karyat Award during his stay at Gandhi Bhavan.

TP Madhavan spent the last eight years of his life at Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram, forgotten by many. Even his family, including Bollywood director Raja Krishna Menon, who directed the superhit Airlift starring Akshay Kumar, reportedly stopped visiting him in his final days. The actor had been estranged from his wife and children for over three decades. Though he had expressed a desire to meet his son Raja, it never happened.
