Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, Aaliyah, recently got engaged to her boyfriend, Shane Gregoire. They are planning to get married next year. In a new episode of the podcast ‘Young Dumb and Anxious,’ Anurag humorously mentioned that Aaliyah’s wedding budget is comparable to the budget for one of his movies. Aaliyah took this comment in stride, joking that her father should be grateful he doesn’t have more children to finance weddings for.
Responding to her father’s comment about the wedding budget, Aaliyah said, “It’s okay. I am your only daughter. I feel like you can make an exception. You are lucky you don’t have more children so you don’t have to do this again and again. I am your only child so it’s one and done. So it’s fine. It’s once in a lifetime thing.”
When Aaliyah asked Anurag about his thoughts on her getting married, he replied, “I am happy but I am also like, ‘The world has changed so much.’ I also got married when I was around your age but we were not wise as you are, as your generation is… We were not prepped for it. We were not ready for it.”
Anurag had previously shared a funny announcement last year when he found out about Aaliyah’s engagement while attending the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his film ‘Kennedy.’ He wrote, “Unaware that I am calculating the number of remakes I will have to do to throw a wedding soirée, because my dearest @aaliyahkashyap and her beau , my lovely @shanegregoire threw a total curveball at us in the middle of our @festivaldecannes journey of #Kennedy by announcing their engagement.”
Aaliyah is a social media influencer who promotes various brands through her social media accounts and creates content for her YouTube channel. Back when Aaliyah got engaged, she penned a heartwarming note expressing her excitement. Calling Shane “the love of her life”, Aaliyah thanked him for letting her know what “unconditional love feels like”. She also revealed that she can’t wait to spend the rest of her life with him. “So this happened! To my best friend, my partner, my soulmate and now my fiancé! You are the love of my life. Thank you for showing me what real & unconditional love feels like. Saying yes to you was the easiest thing I’ve ever done & I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, my love. I love you forever & always Fiancé (still can’t believe I get to call you that aahhhh),” she wrote.
Earlier, in a YouTube video, she opened up about her boyfriend Shane Gregoire. Aaliyah revealed that she met Shane on a dating app and she even made the first move on him. The celebrity daughter also added though she was nervous, she was the first one to kiss him too.
