Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday proposed a Film City in Gurugram and Pinjore during his budget speech in the state assembly. The CM had first announced the project in January 15, 2021 and had said that land amounting 50 to 100 acres has been finalised for the new film city. He had also said that the project would be carried out on a public-private partnership basis.
Last year, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister proposed a world-class film city in Noida which will be well-connected by road and air with Delhi, Lucknow, Agra etc. On December 2020, he visited Mumbai to meet with potential investors for the project.
In a press-conference from the event Yogi Adityanath had said, “The new film city will be built on a 1000-acre plot, 6 km from the proposed Noida international greenfield airport in Jewar. It will be connected to Delhi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Agra and state capital Lucknow. The interest shown by the people associated with the film industry is a good sign,” he said.
He had also addressed the questions from Maharashtra government about the new film city taking away business from Mumbai. “How can anybody take away anything from somebody. It is not a wallet to steal. This is an open competition for whoever can give secure atmosphere, better facilities and most importantly, social security in which all people can work. The film city in Mumbai will continue to work. A film city in UP will be built as per the requirement, in a new atmosphere,” he had said.
