Sometimes herbs prove to be more effective than medicines in getting rid of diseases. In Ayurveda, many such items are considered a boon for health. One of these is the Moringa tree. It also carries different names such as drumstick tree, oil tree, miracle tree, and horseradish tree.
It contains many useful compounds like Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin C, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, Vitamin B2, and Vitamin B3. It is low in fat and does not contain any harmful cholesterol. It is also known for its medicinal properties. According to experts, every part of this tree has medicinal properties. From its leaves to its bark, the plant carries numerous medicinal properties.
Many people consume Moringa leaves by making powder, while others consume it as a paste. Ayurvedic doctor Saroj Gautam, the Associate Professor of Aligarh Ayurvedic Medical College, UP, calls the Moringa tree beneficial for health while listing out its benefits.
According to Dr Saroj Gautam, a paste of its flowers is made and applied on the skin, while a decoction is made from the bark of Moringa. Every part of this tree can be used in Ayurvedic treatment, he added. It is also considered beneficial for women, diabetic patients and people suffering from urinary problems. Consuming Moringa leaves powder can relieve hormonal problems in women. Females suffering from uterus-related problems can also consume this powder after consulting the doctor.
Dr Saroj Gautam says that Moringa leaves powder can be very beneficial for diabetes patients. The properties found in these help in reducing the sweet juice i.e. sugar level in the body. He claims that If it is consumed properly, the sugar level of the body can be controlled to a great extent. Apart from this, Moringa powder can be beneficial for problems related to urination. As per Saroj Gautam, if a paste of Moringa flowers is made and applied on the skin then it can provide relief from skin infections.
Moringa flowers are also known for their neuroprotective properties. Antioxidants present in Moringa also help in preventing disorders that may affect the nervous system, like multiple depressions, neuropathic pain, and Alzheimer’s disease.
