Model, television host, philanthropist, social activist and actress of much acclaimed film 'Water', Lisa Rey is not just a pretty face who made it big in her life. The Indo-Canadian actress was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2010. The 'Kasoor' actress fought all the odds and survived cancer through her strong will. On the World Cancer Day we shed light upon her life that inspires and motivates us.
Discovering Love even after being diagnosed
When you are on your road to recovery, you need a good dose of motivation and happiness. Be it happy memories or things that you loved to do before your depression, it will all help you to speed up in emerging victorious and Lisa just knew that she life doesn’t stop and love is eternal. At crucial times when Lisa was fighting for her life, she found the love of her life- Jason Dehni and the fear of death did not stop Lisa from living her life happily and on her own terms. Tthey both soon got married at a lovely venue in Napa Valley, California.
Contribution to society
Lisa has also been actively spreading awareness for fitness and participated in various social activities to support cancer fighters and survivors across the globe. Lisa recently participated in a marathon took place in Cambodia known as the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon, for charity. This is only one of her many contributions to the society.
Travel Documentary
Traveling keeps you active and engrossed in the beauty of nature. Most books and travel journals concentrate on bucket lists and 'things to do before you die' but Lisa thought it was time to inspire others to show them what is waiting for them when they survive. She also became the global ambassador for Insight Vacations who design travelling experiences across the globe.
Appearance isn’t important
Lisa boldly went ahead and shortened her hair to support cancer fighters and survivors. She is much happier about who she is and how she has been loved by people.
Friends and family before work
Recently, during the festival season Lisa specially flew to her Husband’s city where her family gathered. During this time she was shooting for her upcoming film Ishq Forever, however, it was not difficult for her to priorities between work and family.
Her film career and taking up challenging roles
Last but not the least, after a long hiatus, Lisa will be seen playing a secret agent in the film. The “Water” actress will be seen performing major stunts in the movie. She was undergoing rigorous training sessions for a month with Grandmaster Shifuji to get her act rights.
Her adventures as an explorer
Lisa has survived cancer and faced her fears and gotten to the other side. She knows life is for living because and true aliveness and real joy lies in taking risks. She has always been an explorer and adventurer. One of the examples if her recent visit to Turks and Caikos where she went for a river discovery.

Last but not the least she also starred in Deepa Mehta's Oscar Nominated film 'Water' In 2005, Doing this movie was more challenging than any other movie she had done because as an actor since it is a multi-dimensional movie that intricately sews a simple love story into a social and political centric drama.
