Youth held on bike theft charges

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Peroorkada police arrested a youth for alleged bike theft. Anas, 24, resident of Hazeena Manzil, Aruvikkara, was arrested near Peroorkada on Saturday during a combing operation launched by the Peroorkada CI and team. According to the police, the arrest was effected by a police team after city Police Commissioner directed the officers to launch a surprise combing operation to nab city-based criminals who are on the run.  During one such move,the police team got a tip-off which stated that an unknown person suspected to be a criminal was seen in   Peroorkada, Kudapanakunnu and Mukkola areas. Under the Cantonment AC’s instruction, a team comprising of Peroorkada CI,SI and city police shadow team went to the area and waited for the suspect. When the person arrived, the police tried to block him. But the youth tried to escape. Finally, the police team succeeded to chase him down and took him into custody. On detailed interrogation, it was revealed that the black splendor bike he was riding was stolen from near a press at Over Bridge. The man replaced the original number plate with a forged one and repainted the bike
