BANGALORE: Dr Pushpa Mittra Bhargava, a Padma Bhushan, Former Vice-Chairman of National Knowledge Commission, will be holding a seminar on “How social isolation of women for 3-6 days following sexual intercourse or in-vitro fertilization increases chances of pregnancy by 50 per cent.”A carefully done study at Bangalore Assisted Conception Centre (BACC) involving 1734 women over five years, just published in International Journal of Infertility and Fetal Medicine has shown that if a woman is isolated from all other men except her husband for three full days after sexual intercourse or embryo transfer following in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), the chances of establishment of pregnancy increase by 50 per cent, that is, from 30 to 45 per cent.This study is a major breakthrough which will have big impact in increasing pregnancy rates internationally. The study will be a milestone in research on this subject.
