BHUBANESWAR: The Ekta Parishad has demanded immediate withdrawal of police from the Posco plant site and resolve the issue of land acquisition by discussion with the people. Ekta Parishad president PV Rajgopal on Tuesday told a media conference here that anti-Posco campaign was non-violent in nature and the State Government’s allegation on use of children in the agitation is not proper. Rajgopal said that there should not be politics over children. The children have joined the agitation with their parents to save their land and livelihood, he maintained. Alleging that the State Government has flouted the provisions of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), Rajgopal alleged that people were fighting against the Government at Niyamgiri, Puri, Kalinganagar, Narayanpatna, Keonjhar and Khandadhar for land. Rajgopal participated in the indefinite dharna by Ekta Parishad and other mass organisations against forcible land acquisition for the Posco project.
