New Delhi: Ekta Kapoor surely knows how to make an otherwise B grade horror flick the most talked about film of the season. Featuring Sunny Leone, 'Ragini MMS 2' has been garnering a lot of curiosity mostly for its two songs that the makers have released prior to its release.
Clad in a gold sequin short number, Sunny Leone gyrates to the tunes composed by Meet Brothers and Anjaan in the song 'Baby Doll' where the lyrics, if one loosely translates, mean "I am your Baby Doll, made of gold."
The song, which has become an instant hit and ruling the charts and the dance floors across the country has a mix of English rap and Punjabi lyrics. In one portion, a man tells Leone, "I won't mind tell you that I take you floor, But tonight no bites, Cause the wife will know".
This isn't the first time that a song with double meaning lyrics has become a hit in India. Films have in the past used explicit words, lines filled with sexual innuendoes in songs and mostly these songs have been a huge hit.
While the detractors have shunned it, blamed Bollywood even for affecting the mindset of the youth and thereby encouraging crime against women, filmmakers have time and again included such songs in hope to get viewers to the theatre on the opening day. "Bhaag DK Bose", "Chikni Chameli", "Pinky Hai Paisewaalon Ki" are just some of the many such sings which have raised eyebrows.
But while Bollywood refuses to take the moral high ground on being a responsible medium for the public, four year olds dance to such songs in reality shows copying the exact moves of the stars while their parents applaud and smile proudly sitting with the audience.
