Soon, a drone could take your dog for a walk!

A man in New York has released a video showing how a drone can be used to take pets out for their daily exercise.

Jeff Myers, who likes to experiment with product design and interaction design, created a video showing a person programming the walking route of his dog into an AR drone, a radio controlled flying quadcopter helicopter built by the French company Parrot.

The AR drone was then used to take the dog for a walk around the neighbourhood.

The AR drone is attached to the end of the dog's leash and flies above the canine as it strolls along the streets, according to psfk.com.

The AR drone also keeps an eye on the pet, as demonstrated in the video on Vimeo, a US-based video-sharing website.

The video occasionally shifted perspectives from a third-party viewer to the perspective of the drone looking down at the dog.

The idea appears feasible if the pet is well-behaved, but in reality more careful planning and programming may be required for larger and more strong-willed pets or even for small ones.

What's your reaction?
