Aurangabad: An additional sessions court in Aurangabad on Wednesday sentenced two persons to five years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) on charges of attempting to abduct and molest a US national. They were also fined Rs 1,000 each.
According to the prosecution, the accused Anil Chotumal Sharma, 32 and Dhananajay, 38 tried to abduct the girl on February 3, 2006.
Additional sessions judge Sangeetrao Patil also awarded one of the accused, Dhananajay Kulkarni, an additional one year's Rigorous Imprisonment and fined Rs 500 for molesting the girl while she was being tried to abduct.
The girl, who is based in West Virginia in the US, arrived in Aurangabad on Rotary Club's International Exchange Programme on August 7, 2005.
A physically challenged lady and four local youths rescued her. They then took her to Jawaharnagar police station where a complaint was lodged
