KOLLAM: The bodies of the three Bengal natives who were killed in the accident at the unmanned level-crossing at Kottampally in Oachira on Saturday night, were sent to Kolkata from the Thiruvananthapuram airport on Sunday evening.State Government representative Sethu Pillai, an employee of District Collectorate, and Madhayi Shek, brother of one of the deceased, accompanied the bodies. The State Government announced compensation of Rs 10,000 each for the kin of the deceased.Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishanan told mediapersons at the Karunagappally Taluk Hospital that the State Government will meet all the expenses of sending the bodies to Bengal and treating the injured. The Railways have been requested to arrange the travel of fifteen other workers from Bengal working here to attend the cremation of their colleagues, he said. Thiruvanchoor said that the next cabinet meeting will decide on increasing the compensation amount.Five persons, including three migrant labourers from Bengal, were killed when the Mangalore-bound Maveli Express from Thiruvananthapuram rammed into a mini-lorry in which they were travelling at an unmanned level-crossing at Thayyilmukku, near Oachira, on Saturday.
