New Delhi: SAD President and former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who was declared elected from Lambi Assembly constituency in Muktsar district, is set to become the next chief minister of Punjab again.
While the Akali Dal-BJP combine has won 67 of the 117 seats in the state, the Congress tally is 44 seats.
The elections have thrown up new equations in the state. Majha and Doaba regions, which were the Congress strongholds, have gone to the Akalis.
On the other hand, the Malwa region, where Akalis used to be strong, has gone with the Congress.
So as the grand old man in Punjab, 82-year-old Prakash Singh Badal gets ready to sit on the CM’s seat, the biggest challenge before him will be to move along with the winds of change sweeping across Punjab.
