Top cop to probe sale of illegal lotteries

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K M Mani has said that a top police official, not below the rank of additional DGP, will investigate  the sale of illegal lotteries in the state. The Finance Department will make a request to the Chief Minister in this regard, he said.A state-level monitoring cell under the leadership of an Additional DGP  will be be formed as a permanent mechanism to check illegal lottery trade.Range IGs, Lotteries Department Director, Commercial Taxes joint commissioner (Law) and Lotteries Department additional director will be members of the cell.
