Ashok Ghosh (50), an employee of a school and TMC leader, was chased by the gunmen and shot at close range while he was on a motorcycle as he was on his way to the railway station to board a train, Superintendent of Police Murlidhar said.
All police stations were alerted immediately and the two gunmen were arrested within two hours of the killing from Pandaveswar, a few kilometre away, bordering Burdwan district, the SP said. Ghosh was declared brought dead in hospital, he added.
