Dogs protect their owners by alerting them to potential intruders with their senses and barking. Many times, dogs are also trained to physically defend their owners in dangerous situations. Be it intruders to their house or other animals on the street, a dog is always loyal to their pet parents.
Similar is the case with Raju Patel, a resident of Rayadandi village in Antargam mandal of Peddapalli district, Telangana who completed his higher studies but is currently unemployed. Local18 Telugu reports that he is involved in raising desi chickens. An avid dog lover, Raju also owns two German Shepherds. Recently, he also bought an Indian Bully dog. Despite being only 45 days old, the dog weighs 10 kg, leading Raju to name it Ugra.
The Indian Bully dog, also known as the Bully Kutta or Pakistani Bully, is a breed that originates from the Indian subcontinent, particularly from areas in India and Pakistan. These dogs are known for their large, muscular and powerful build. Typically, an Indian Bully dog weighs between 32 to 68 kg and stands about 30 to 44 inches (76 to 112 cm) tall. They have a short, smooth coat that can be in a variety of colours including white, black, brindle and fawn. Their appearance is marked by a large, broad head with a strong jaw.
This Indian Bully dog can overpower any animal, regardless of its size. Historically, kings of the Mughal Empire used these dogs for protection. One Indian Bully dog can provide security equivalent to Z-category protection. The cost of maintaining this dog is also high, starting at Rs 4,000 per month for the first six months. After six months, the maintenance cost increases to Rs 6,000 to 7,000 per month, according to Local18 Telugu.
Indian Bully dogs historically have been employed as guard dogs and in various roles that require strength, including hunting and working in rural areas.
