New Delhi: Mohanlal, the famous Malayalam actor, turned 52 on May 21, 2012. He is among the best actors Indian cinema has ever produced. Starting his career in 1978 with the Malayalam film 'Thiranottam', he has been leading the Mollywood for more than three decades.

His latest release 'Grandmaster' is running successfully and has already achieved a blockbuster status. He has been a part of the cast of over 300 Malayalam films. His production house has given 35 films. He has also been part of some Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. More than 25 songs are also to his credit.

A recipient of Padma Shree Awards, Mohanlal is a well known actor for the Hindi film viewers too. His stint as an honest cop in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Company' was appreciated by the critics as well as the common viewers.

One of the pioneers of Malayalam films, Mohanlal received severe criticism for his acting in 'Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag' where he played a character inspired from Sanjeev Kumar's character in the original 'Sholay'.

His influence on the Malayalam film industry can be understood by the fact that he plays leading roles despite the age of 52.
