HYDERABAD: Cutting across party lines, legislators from the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh Wednesday gave notice for a privilege motion against Congress MP L. Rajagaopal for allegedly belittling the house through his remarks.Angry over the Vijayawada MP's remark that clause 14F that treats Hyderabad a free zone for police recruitment cannot be deleted from the Presidential Order, the legislators met assembly Speaker N. Manohar and gave him the breach of privilege motion notice. They alleged that the MP violated assembly members' rights by stating that the house adopts many resolutions due to political pressures, but all of these cannot be implemented.Legislators of the ruling Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) sought action against Rajagaopal for insulting the house. The assembly last year passed a resolution urging the central government to delete clause 14F from the Presidential Order of 1975. The Telangana groups are demanding the deletion of the clause as it treats Hyderabad as a free zone for recruitment of police personnel.Under the clause, candidates from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions can also be recruited in Hyderabad. The speaker assured the delegation that he would respond after going through the assembly rules.Reacting to the complaint against him, Rajagaopal told reporters in New Delhi that the privilege move was ridiculous. He wondered under which rule would the motion be moved against him.The fresh row over the clause broke out after the state government last week decided to conduct in August a written test for recruitment of sub-inspectors.Telangana groups have threatened to disrupt the test if held without deleting the controversial clause.
