Eager little faces looked up with wonder at their newly morphed seniors, freshly transformed into the garb of teachers. They sat absorbing every little detail, enjoying the well prepared classes. At the Talent Day at Christ Nagar International School, Kowdiar, students donned the roles of the School Principal, Vice Principal and teachers and took over the charge of the school for one whole day.
Well-rehearsed for their day’s ordeal, armed with lesson plans and teaching aids, students of grades IX and XI put up a neat show of emulating their teachers. The student Principal and Vice Principal did periodic rounds and maintained perfect discipline and decorum. They got wholehearted support from the entire team of student teachers.
Earlier in the day, in a colourful ceremony, Prince Sabu and Nikitha Xavi of class IX were appointed as the student principal and vice principal by the School Principal, Rev. Josey Kollammalil. The handing over of the charges of the office was undertaken with the symbolic handing over of the ‘Bharana Chakra’.
Tina Thomas of class IX won a prize - an electronic book reader - for her outstanding performance. She also got a special offer - to be a teacher at Christ Nagar International School after she finished her BEd.
The Student Teachers were evaluated based on their content knowledge, presentation and communication skills and the usage of teaching aids. There were many other prizes too for the best performers of the day. As the day winded up, the juniors were heard asking with curiosity, “When will our turn come?”.
