KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that controversies should not be allowed to stand in the way of development in the state. Speaking at a public meeting organised by the UDF district committee here on Monday, Chandy said that government would go ahead overcoming all the hurdles before it.He suggested two conditions for the infrastructure development of Kochi. Firstly, enough land should be provided for various development projects. Secondly, the government should be allowed to collect toll for the construction of proper infrastructure. “We don’t want land owners to surrender their property free of cost. Market value of the land will given to those who surrender land for the development projects,” he said. He said the next Cabinet would consider proposals for declaring the package for those who surrendered land for development projects.An investors meet titled ‘Emerging Kerala 2012’ will be organised in Kochi in April next year. He also said an Act to ensure right to service will be framed so that people can demand services from the government departments on a time bound manner.The Chief Minister promised that all activities of the government will be made transparent. The function was presided over by Benny Behanan MLA. Former speaker A C Jose and Thrikkakara municipal chairman Muhamad Ali were present.
