The Tamil Nadu health department recently issued a legal notice to Mohamed Irfan, a popular YouTuber and food vlogger, for violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (1994). This action was taken after Irfan revealed the gender of his unborn child on his YouTube channel, which is still not legal in India. The department instructed him to remove the videos in question. Reportedly, Irfan had disclosed the gender of his child following a sex determination test, which he had conducted in Dubai with his wife. He uploaded several now deleted videos showing footage of the test and sharing what the doctor advised them. Additionally, the content creator even posted a video from a gender reveal party attended by family and friends, where the couple announced they were expecting a girl.
Known for his channel Irfan’s View, which has over 4 million subscribers, the majority of his content revolves around food and family vlogs. Irfan gained popularity after he participated in the cooking reality show Cooku with Comali Season 5. Besides his YouTube channel, which he started in 2009, Irfan also manages two Instagram accounts, Irfan’s View and Irfan’s View Official.
Apart from his entertaining videos, he made his acting debut in 2023 alongside superstar Vijay in the film Leo, playing a supporting role. During the time of the shoot, Irfan had shared several photos with the lead star and director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Sharing a picture with Thalapathy, Irfan wrote, “Meeting Actor Vijay in Leo shoot for the first time!. One of the Super exciting times of this year. Had some convos with him, I felt super proud when he recognised me. A person who I looked up to have seen my contents is a big achievement for me. I grew up watching his movies, this was special. More about this in today’s video sharp at 3 in Irfansview.”
Earlier, Mohamed Irfan made headlines in May last year. During that time, Irfan’s SUV crashed into a 52-year-old woman as she was crossing the road. The woman died on shot and a case was filed against Irfan’s driver, who was allegedly behind the wheels while speeding the vehicle.
When Irfan initially shared the news about the gender test, his post received mixed reactions. Some expressed happiness and congratulated him, while others criticized him, suggesting that his actions could influence others to misuse similar tests.
In one of the deleted videos on his YouTube channel Irfan’s View, the vlogger had shared footage of his pregnant wife undergoing a gender test at a hospital in Dubai. He mentioned that when he was born in 1993, his mother knew his gender and it wasn’t a big issue back then. However, such tests were later banned because many people were discriminating against female babies.
