The Students Council of the Kumararani Meena Muthiah College of Arts and Science (KRMMC) was inaugurated here on Monday. On the occasion, actor and film director Yuhi Sethu released the audio track of the Kumararaja Premier League (KPL), an awareness campaign initiated by the college.
In a speech peppered with anecdotes, Sethu sought to underline the importance of education in one’s career. “One may argue that A R Rahman achieved much despite being an eighth standard dropout, but he would know how vital even that education has been to him.” To drive home his point, he added, “I know a music director who was duped of lakhs of money because he was illiterate.”
He also stressed on the necessity of thinking-out-of-the-box to succeed in life. The opportunities to succeed today are limitless, the only thing that people need to do is channelise their thoughts and efforts in the right direction, the actor, popular for his role in Panchathantiram added.
Earlier, Meena Muthiah, granddaughter of educationist late Raja Annamalai Chettiar, dwelt in length on the necessity for persistence of effort.
Student office-bearers took on oath, administered by the college vice-principal. The KPL campaign also comprises a cricket ball tournament, ‘Corporate vs College’.
