BANGALORE: The murder case of farmer and activist Siddalinga Prabhu reached the High Court on Tuesday. Basappa, uncle of the slain activist and a resident of Sompura, filed a petition in the court against the inaction of the state government and police authorities.In his petition, 72-year-old Basappa alleged that the police had failed to take any action though Prabhu’s family members registered a complaint suspecting the role of NICE MD Ashok Kheny and his assistant Rudresh in the murder.He maintained that police authorities had colluded with the accused and no statements were recorded in the case so far.He also charged that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who promised to take action, had so far failed to provide justice and hence, he was forced seek CBI probe into the murder.The petitioner urged the court to take Kheny and others into judicial custody. He also named IGP Malini Krishnamurthy including DG&IGP, City Commissioner of Police as respondents and sought action against them for their inaction. The BackgroundIt can be recalled that Siddalinga Prabhu, 36, a farmer, was found murdered and his body was found in a ditch near Green Valley School on Kanakapura Main Road on the outskirts of the city on October 17. He had actively participated in a series of protests against authorities Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE).
