Shopian victims' bodies to be exhumed today
The victims were allegedly raped and murdered on May 29.

Kashmir: A team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will exhume the bodies of the two women who were reportedly raped and murdered in Shopian.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier got the nod from the victims' families and the court for exhumation of the bodies.

The CBI has refused to take the help of local doctors after one of them was accused of manipulating the DNA samples taken previously.

According to a doctor from Pulwama District Hospital who was part of the team that carried out the post-mortem of the rape-and-murder victims, the vaginal swabs of the two were never taken.

The doctor reportedly told CBI officials that the samples were taken samples from gloves used in the gynaecological ward of the hospital and used to make a slide that showed presence of semen.

The victims Asiya and Nilofer were allegedly raped and murdered on May 29, in a village in Shopian district in south Kashmir.
