Senior Apollo doc commits suicide

New Delhi: A senior doctor at Apollo Hospital, Umesh Sharma allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by consuming a poisonous substance.

Forty-year-old Sharma was the head of the emergency medicine department of the hospital.

He was discovered unconscious at his residence at Sarita Vihar, from where he was rushed to Apollo where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police recovered a one-line suicide note from him, which said that no one was responsible for his death.

Sharma, who had left for further studies in May 2006, re-joined the hospital as the Head Of Department of emergency medicine.
