Islamabad: A journalist who was seriously injured in a suicide attack in northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar died in hospital on Friday, officials said.
Shafiullah Khan, a 28-year-old reporter with The News Daily, suffered severe burns during the suicide blast at Khyber Super Market in Peshawar on June 11.
Khan, who was being treated at a military hospital in Wah, was declared dead by doctors on Friday morning.
Khan failed to regain consciousness after being injured in the attack.
He belonged to a village in the restive North Waziristan tribal region and had recently joined The News as a trainee reporter.
Another journalist named Asfandyar Khan too was killed in the same attack.
Nearly 40 people died and 100 others were injured when the suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest near a hotel at Khyber Super Market.
A large number of students and journalists lived in hostels in the market.
