SC not infallible, but final: CJI
“Every human being, every institution has limitations,” Sabharwal tells a child during a function.

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India Y K Sabharwal on Tuesday said no institution was infallible and the Supreme Court need not always be correct but what it said was final.

"The Supreme Court decision is final not necessarily because it is right. Every human being, every institution has limitations. No institution is infallible. But since we are final, we are called Supreme Court," the CJI said in reply to a question from a child at a function on the National Child Rights Week. His statement comes as the country debates the powers of various organs of the Constitution.

This was the first time such a function was organised in the apex court on Children's Day. The CJI advocated the necessity of concerted steps for the upholding children's rights.
