New Delhi: First on the television, then in films and now on the radio—well-known satirist and actor Jaspal Bhatti is man who has transcended all barriers to entertain his audience.
Bhatti, who captured the imagination of viewers in Flop Show, is to act in an adaptation of filmmaker Satyajit Ray's play 'Feluda-the Golden Fortress' on BBC Radio.
The cast for the play, which is to be aired on February 10, includes some of Bollywood's well-known names like Rahul Bose and Anupam Kher. Among others who will feature in the play are Anang Desai and Ameen Sayani.
While Bhatti will play the role of a taxi driver, Gurbachan Singh, Bose will portray the title role—that of a Bengali detective Feluda. Kher has been cast as Feluda's sidekick.
Feluda, a name familiar to Indian audiences, is a lovable character on which Ray has written over 35 stories. However, it is the first time that the detective's exploits have been adapted for BBC World Service..
Bhatti told PTI that that the experience of working on radio was very enjoyable and especially when it was for BBC, which has a formidable following. "It wasn't very different from television, in the sense that on radio my face was expressionless as it is on television too," he said. ####x
