CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday earmarked funds for constructing basic amenities at seven temples, a dargah and a church and the birth place of Sri Ramana Maharishi, at an expenditure of Rs 4.62 crore.Devotees who visit Srirangam have a holy dip in the Cauvery near Amma Mandapam and walk up to the temple of Sri Ranganatha. For their convenience, roofs will be installed along the roadside at a cost of Rs 1 crore. As much as Rs 45 lakh would be spent on amenities for the Sri Rajagopala Swami temple in Mannargudi. At the dargah in Muthupettai Jambuvanodai, a parking lot and toilets will be built at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. Similar facilities will be constructed at a cost of Rs 56 lakh at the Sri Sowmyanarayana Perumal temple in Thirukoshtiyur. At the birth place of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi in Thiruchuzhi, Virudhunagar, amenities will be provided at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. Such facilities will be provided at the Sri Mariamman temple in Irukkankudi and Ninra Narayana Perumal temple at Thiruthangal in Virudhunagar at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. Similarly, Rs 43.60 lakh will be spent on amenities for the historic Shiva temple at Srivanjiyam in Tiruvarur, while Rs 25 lakh has been allotted for the Sri Balasubramaniya Swami temple in Ayakudi in Tirunelveli. For amenities at Adaikkalamatha Church at Elakkurichi in Ariyalur, Rs 25 lakh will be spent. Apart from these, Rs 34 lakh will be spent on better facilities at the Muthupettai. bird sanctuary.
