HYDERABAD: A Rs 1,000 crore Skill Development Fund will be constituted for the Rajiv Education and Employment Mission of Andhra Pradesh (REEMAP). It is meant to train youth for Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu (RYK) programme.Under the programme, the state government will provide 15 lakh jobs in the next three years. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday approved the proposal and directed the finance department to release the funds for REEMAP.The chief minister held a review meeting on the RYK programme with REEMAP vicechairman KC Reddy, chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi and other senior officials at the Secretariat.The officials said one lakh jobs would be provided by 2012 under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu. Districtwise and subdivisionwise targets were set for each department for provision of employment. They also told him that the conduct of district level workshops on the programme was completed.Under the RYK programme, 517 training centres have been set up so far. As many as 60,127 candidates are undergoing training at the centres.A proposal has been made to provide training to two lakh youths during the 12th Five Year Plan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, which will bear up to 85 per cent of the cost. The government is planning to provide placements through different methods to realise the set target under the programme.The chief minister will hold a video conference on the RYK programme with the district collectors on November 5 to review the progress achieved in its implementation.Similarly, the Rajiv Education and Employment Council of Andhra Pradesh (REECAP) which monitors the functioning of REEMAP, will meet in the third week of November to review the programme. The meet will be chaired by the chief minister.
