MANGALORE: Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP) Neelam Achutha Rao on Sunday declared a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh to the wife of M S Mane who lost his life in the Saturday’s encounter with naxalites.“Mane’s family will receive all compensation available under the state government’s service rules,” Rao said after paying his last respects to the deceased constable in front of Belthangady police station. Besides the Rs. 10 lakh compensation, his children or wife will secure jobs based on eligibility conditions, he added.The family members will be allowed to continue in the police quarters provided by the department, he said. ADGP(Internal security) Bipin Gopalkrishna informed that his department had sent a proposal to the government to strengthen ANF. The increase of food allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000, increase in salary of ANF staff and Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of quarters, he informed. The department identified 15 places in Naxal-infested areas in DK, Udupi, Shimoga and Chikmagalur for setting up permanent stations for ANF personnel.
