BANGALORE: Excise Minister M P Renukacharya on Thursday asserted that he never worked against the party, adding that his continuance in the ministry would be decided by the party high command. The minister denied the charge made against him by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a letter to BJP national president Nitin Gadkari that he is indulging in anti-party activities.Renukacharya is one of the half a dozen ministers named in the chief minister’s plaint sent to Gadkari, which surfaced in the media recently.“I have been discharging my duties as a legislator and a minister with flying colours... power cannot be eternal,” the excise minister said.Stating that he supported Gowda when the latter was elected as the Legislature party leader, Renukacharya professed ignorance at what made the Chief Minister turn against him.“The people of my constituency elected me twice because I responded to their expectations and discharged my duties to the best of my capacity,” he said.On whether he would clarify with the party high command on the issue, he said: “The party’s leaders are aware of all the developments in the state; there is no need to brief them.”He added that he has distanced himself from the signature campaign undertaken by some BJP MLAs demanding the Chief Minister to convene a Legislative Party meeting. He, however, added: “I feel the legislators have genuine issues to demand from the Chief Minister.” Renukacharya disputed allegations that B S Yeddyurappa had worked against BJP.CT Ravi Meets BSYChikmagalur MLA C T Ravi and his team met former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, seeking his help for state Cabinet expansion.
