An 18-year-old student who was preparing for the the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to study undergraduate medical courses died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Jaipur in the early hours of Saturday morning, police officials told Hindustan Times.
“She used to stay with her parents in a flat in Vidyadhar Nagar area and was preparing for NEET in a local coaching centre. The incident took place at around 3am. Later, the neighbours informed police after recovering her in a critical state on Saturday morning. She was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead
A police official said that the girl was living with her parents in a flat in Vidyadhar Nagar area and was preparing for the exams at a local coaching centre. The official also said that the neighbours were able to recover her in a critical condition after which she was rushed to the hospital but doctors there declared her dead.
The police official also added that the girl threw a party to celebrate her birthday on Friday evening. She had appeared for NEET this May but failed to qualify. In her suicide note, she apologised to her parents, saying she was not able to fulfil their expectations.
The report by the newspaper also said that this year 15 students have died in such incidents. It said that 13 students who were either preparing for NEET and JEE died by suicide earlier. Another student, their report said, died by suicide in Sikar.
At least 27 students who were preparing for various competitive examinations, died by suicide in Rajasthan, the report further added.
