HYDERABAD : The power supply position in the state continues to be grim.As against the present demand of 263 million units (MUs) per day, AP Discoms were able to meet around 229 MUs per day which means a shortfall of 34 MUs.The shortfall is being managed by imposing power cuts to domestic sector during day time, two-day power holiday to industries and one-hour supply restriction to agriculture. The APTransco has made purchase of 15.95 MUs from all available sources.Of the 229 MU, APGenco's thermal units have supplied 85 MU to the grid while hydel generation was 24 MU.It was trying to supplement coal by getting additional rakes from Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd and Western Coalfields and are also procuring 1 lakh MT of imported coal. The generation from coalbased stations has been affected to an extent of 600 MW from NTPC Ramagundam (out of which AP’s share is 190 MW) and 270 MW from Simhadri.
