CHENNAI: Any person who even stores - for commercial purposes - any ‘pornographic material in any form’ involving a child shall be liable to be jailed upto three years or with fine or both.Severe punishment has also been mandated for using children for pornographic purposes. For instance, if a person uses a child to directly participate in such acts, he shall face rigorous imprisonment for life besides a fine. Also, whoever abets any offence (if the act abetted is committed in consequence of the abetment) shall be given punishment provided for that particular offence. The Act also provides punishment for the intent to commit an offence, even when unsuccessful. The attempt to commit an offence under the Act has been made liable for punishment for up to half the punishment prescribed for the commission of the offence.
