Poll code violation case: Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid fails to appear in court
The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Tuesday failed to appear before a court in Muzaffarnagar in a case related to alleged violation of model code of conduct during 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

The Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Tuesday failed to appear before a court in Muzaffarnagar in a case related to alleged violation of model code of conduct during 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Chief Judicial Magistrate KP Singh in September had issued non bailable warrant against Bukhari and then UDF candidate Sabir Ali for failing to appear before it in the case.

While Ali, who is lodged in Tihar jail in another case, was produced in the court by Delhi Police, Bukhari did not appear. On a complaint by the Election Commission, police had registered a case against Bukhari, Ali and member of Jama Masjid Advisory Committee Inam Qureshi for landing in a helicopter at an election meet venue in Khatoli town on April 10, 2007 without permission.
