MYSORE: Home Minister R Ashok announced that the state government will introduce a new Bill in the forthcoming Assembly Session, aiming to accomplish several reforms in police department and to deal with appointments, transfers, complaints against the police and the like.
Ashok said on Sunday that state government plans to increase the number of commandos from 80 to 300 and proposed to establish a Commando Training Centre on 100 acres at Bangalore.He explained that Karnataka is on the list of terror targets, after Osama bin Laden was killed by American forces. Police officials in coordination with the antiterrorist squad, antinaxal force force and the Navy, have been directed to tighten security on 300 km of coastaline of Karnataka.

Ashok explained the plans to expand the Commando Force. "State government will establish a fullfledged Commando Training Centre to train the coastal security police, antinaxal force, antiterrorist squad and rapid action teams. We can not wait till the arrival of Commandos from the Centre during emergency," he said.
