People’s Democratic Front (PDF) of Yanam led by former Congress legislator Velaga Rajeswara Rao on Thursday demanded a vigilance enquiry into the schemes whose implementation was demanded by MLA Malladi Krishna Rao. The PDF would also stage a dharna at Ambur Saalai near the Legislative Assembly on Friday to press for the vigilance enquiry, he added.
Addressing a press conference here, the PDF leader alleged that the schemes were not of interest to the people of Yanam but were demanded by the legislator for underlying motives.
Since a CBI probe is already on into the construction of the flood protection wall, a vigilance enquiry should be set up in other schemes, Velaga Rao said.
The leader raised doubts over the medical relief scheme alleging ineligible beneficiaries. Explaining further, he said the bills were “managed” by the staff of the government hospital in Yanam.
Velaga also said that the `25 crore link channel was not necessary for Yanam farmers as the existing channels for drawing water were adequate.
