The decision of Bangalore police to insist on licences for holding parties has come in for criticism.
“Let the police make permission compulsory to host parties at resorts or serviced apartment. Since most star hotels have permission to serve liquor, they don’t need permission again. This‘new’ rule will result in the death of the pubbing culture,” said Viren Khanna, a party organiser.
This rule has come as a shocker for youngsters too. “I have been planning my birthday party for two months now and the invites have been sent out. I had booked a serviced apartment. Now, the police say they need two weeks to study the situation and give their nod. ,” said Sugandhi, a student.
However, police in the city remained ignorant about this new rule. “We haven’t received any applications so far. People will have to become more aware about this first,” said an official from the Ashoknagar police station. Similar responses were received from Indiranagar and Koramangala police stations.
