Senior AAP leader Dinesh Waghela, who is taking on Bollywood veteran and BJP candidate Paresh Rawal in Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency, on Saturday said the actor should quit his acting career to be with the people full time.
Waghela, AAP's national executive member, on Saturday also said people have refused to accept Rawal as he is a part of "VVIP culture". "He is a part of VVIP culture. He has nothing to do with the people. People are against him," said the AAP leader, who was part of Anna Hazare's core team of India Against Corruption.
The Lok Sabh polls in Gujarat will be held on April 30. "Paresh Rawal should decide. He should quit acting as a profession and be with the people full time," Waghela told.
Waghela, who hails from Gujarat and shifted to Goa in 1979, has been traveling between both the places. The AAP candidate eked out his living in childhood working at a tea stall and later joined several spiritual and social movements like JP movement, Vinoba Bhave's Gramdan movement and 1974's Navanirman Andolan.
Waghela said the fight was not between him and Paresh Rawal, but between common man's suffering and corruption. "The fight is against the dynasty of terror unleashed in Gujarat by Narendra Modi because of which people are afraid to speak out openly," he said, adding that no businessman or common man had guts to talk against the BJP government.
" He said the AAP's entry was to complete the independence of India in a true sense. "The independence of India was incomplete. The power was centered around the national and state capitals. But we want to drive the power to gramsabhas and mohalla sabha," he added.
