MADURAI: D Pandian was elected for the third consecutive term as State Secretary of the Communist Party of India on Sunday at the party’s state conference held in Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district. He was first elected to the post in 2005 and re-elected in 2008. Making the announcement at a press meet on Sunday, D Raja, CPI National Secretary, told reporters that Pandian was elected unanimously, after deliberations. He also announced that the party had, on the third and final day of the state conference, elected 125 members to the its state council and 13 candidate-members, besides 112 delegates for the party’s all India congress to be held in Patna in March. The State branch’s executive committee and secretariat members would be elected after the all India congress, Raja said.
