Three students of Pachaiyappas College allegedly assaulted a student of Presidency College on board an MTC bus on Thursday.

Three students of Pachaiyappa’s College allegedly assaulted a student of Presidency College on board an MTC bus on Thursday.

Selvan (18) was accosted by the trio when the bus reached MKB Nagar. They asked Selvan if he was from Presidency College and beat him up upon confirmation, police said. On hearing the commotion, the bus driver alerted the police. Selvan later lodged a complaint with the MKB Nagar Police. On Wednesday, another group of Pachaiyappa’s students were arrested for possessing lethal weapons, with which they planned to attack students from Presidency.

City Police Commissioner S George, meanwhile, convened a meeting of his officers over the clashes between students of the two colleges. It was decided that stern action should be taken against erring students to prevent future clashes, sources said.

4 held for stealing lorry

Four persons were arrested by Pallikaranai police on Thursday for stealing a lorry and selling its parts after dismantling the vehicle. Acting on a complaint filed by Lawrence Dharmaraj, the police picked up Shankar (27) of Tiruvannamalai and Purushothaman (29) of Maraimalai Nagar. Both were previously employed by Lawrence as drivers.

Investigations revealed that the duo took the lorry to a mechanic shed in Madhavaram where they had dismantled it and sold the spare parts. Dhandpani, the shed owner, and his accomplice Perumal were also arrested.
