Obama earned $3 mn in 2008, gave $1 mn in tax

New Delhi: US President Barack Obama is in the news for his salary. The President earned close to $3 million in 2008.

This figure is in accordance with the President's annual tax returns.

Most of the money came from royalties of Obama's two non-fiction books.

Of their income, they gave 6.5 per cent in charity and close to a million in tax.

The Obamas had earned more the year before that. In 2007, their earnings were $4.2 million.

As US President, Barack Obama now earns $400,000 annually.
