CHENNAI: Dr D Gitanjali, assistant professor attached to the department of  forensic  science, GVMC, Villupuram, has stated in her medical report filed in the Madras High Court on Monday that she did not find any evidence to suggest the occurrence of rape of four Irula women allegedely by cops in Tirukovilur in Villupuram district.Hymenal tears usually heal within five or six days. Since the victims were examined after seven days (on November 29, as directed earlier by the High Court), there was no evidence to suggest the occurrence, she said. When the matter came up before the first Bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam today, the judges expressed shock as neither has investigation in the case had been completed till date, nor has any further action been taken.Advocate-General A Navaneethakrishnan told the judges that the government was serious in the matter. “But, we are of the view that the government is not at all serious in the matter,’’ the Bench said and directed the DGP and Home Secretary to file separate affidavits to satisfy the court as to why no action has been taken till date and investigation has not been completed. The Bench posted the matter for further hearing on Jan 31.While passing further interim orders earlier on January 4, the bench had granted time till January 18 to enable the State to complete the probe and take appropriate steps/action against those police personnel, who were allegedly involved in the commission of the crime.
