No end to stir in Mysore, Mandya

The Cauvery agitation paralysed normal life and the traffic between Bangalore- Mysore city and in rural areas across Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts as people continued to block roads, cook food on streets and disrupted trains services in the region.

 Hundreds of vehicles, including trucks, buses and cars, were stranded for four to five hour on prominent roads due to agitation staged by the farmers.

 The agitating farmers also set fire to tyres on Bannur-Malvalli and Maddur-K M Doodi roads.

 The three hour journey between Bangalore and Mysore took six to seven hours on Tuesday because of series of protests forcing the people to take interior roads.

 The residents of B T Lalithanayak layout, Chikkagowdana Doddi, Gelajagere blocked road with bullock carts, and cooked food on the streets as protest against the Cauvery dispute.

 JD(S) and BSP men took part in the stir along with senior citizens, members of Banaja community members.

 While, actor and MP Ambreesh fans took out protest rally in town.

 Sports club office bearers, tempo and goods carrier owners and drivers, and artists burnt effigy of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

 Meanwhile, the Cauvery River Protection Committee, chairman G Made Gowda has called upon to launch non cooperation movement by declining to pay tax to both state and central governments until they reconsider their decision on Cauvery row.

 The panel has also called upon employees of government departments and private firms to observe pendown strike and support the farmers movement.

 Gowda called on at least one person from each household, students and traders to participate in KRS chalo agitation.

 Meanwhile, the private bus operators and mini truck owners association have said they would provide free vehicles to KRS.

 The buses will ply both from city and all villages to KRS from Wednesday morning.

 In view of the ‘Jail Bharo’ called by Cauvery River Protection Committee chairman G Madegowda, police beefed up the security in KRS and Kabini and deployed BSF and RAF in addition to the civil police.

 As a precautionary measure, the Mandya district administration has declared holiday for schools and colleges in district.

 Meanwhile, Pandavapura Assistant Commissioner R Latha clamped prohibitory orders around KRS, Bastipura, Belagola and Katteri.
