Extending his wishes for electoral victory of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, senior Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari on Friday asked his son Rohit Shekhar to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and learn "tips" on politics.
"My son Rohit Shekhar should soon meet Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is like his elder brother, take his blessings and learn tips of politics from him," 88-year-old Tiwari said in a press statement on Friday.
Wishing electoral success to Yadav, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Tiwari said he has old ties with him. "I have seen him fighting for socialism and communal harmony for years. He takes advice from me time to time which is still continuing. I hope this friendship should continue... I hope Mulayam Singh Yadav will win with overwhelming majority," he said in the statement.
He urged the people of the state to help a young chief minister to run the government. After a six-year-old legal battle, Tiwari had admitted in March that Rohit Shekhar was his biological son.
Shekhar had approached court against Tiwari in 2008, claiming that he was born out of an affair between the Congress leader and his mother Ujjwala Sharma.
